About
Some stories are built over a lifetime. OGGI is one of them—a story of family, hospitality, a deep love for Italy, and a lifelong passion for bringing people together around a table. For Tony and Ida, this is more than a restaurant; it is the culmination of a journey that has been shaped by decades of shared meals, meaningful friendships, and a belief that the best moments in life are meant to be savoured together.
The Story Behind OGGI
After decades in the restaurant business, OGGI is Tony and Ida’s final chapter—and perhaps their most meaningful one.
They have welcomed guests into their restaurants and bars, building not just businesses, but lasting friendships. Every meal served, every glass poured, and every conversation shared has reinforced one simple belief: great food has the power to bring people together.
When they discovered this beautiful historic mansion over 55+ years ago they knew it was the perfect place to bring their lifelong dream to life. Its warmth, charm, and character reminded them of the timeless homes and trattorias found throughout Italy—places where meals are never rushed, stories are shared around the table, and everyone is treated like family.
The name OGGI, which means “today” in Italian, reflects a way of life that Tony has always admired. In Italy, today is meant to be savoured to slow down, gather with the people you love, enjoy exceptional food and wine, and appreciate the simple moments that make life beautiful. That philosophy is woven into every part of the OGGI experience.
Tony’s and Ida’s love for Italy has always been at the heart of everything he does. They travel there as often as they can, continually inspired by its people, its traditions, its food, and its incredible wines. Each visit brings new ideas and renewed passion, all of which have helped shape what they believe is the best menu they have ever created.
For Tony & Ida, customers have never simply been customers—they’ve always been family. OGGI is their way of sharing a genuine slice of Italy with the community, creating a place where everyone feels welcome, every meal is memorable, and every visit feels like coming home. It’s a chance to experience the warmth, hospitality, and flavours of Italy, without the cost of a plane ticket.
As Tony and Ida celebrate this final restaurant together, OGGI is more than a destination for incredible Italian cuisine. It’s the culmination of a lifetime of passion, hard work, and hospitality. They invite you to slow down, raise a glass, share a meal, and live like the Italians do—not just someday, but oggi… today.
Chef Evan
I’ve spent many years working in kitchens, but my true culinary passion caught fire the moment I dove into traditional Italian cuisine. There is an undeniable elegance in its simplicity that completely hooked me. This deep-seated respect for Italian cooking taught me early on that extraordinary food doesn’t start in the pan—it starts from the ground up.
I’m dedicated to local sourcing and securing the absolute best ingredients available, ensuring every dish is built on a foundation of vibrant, uncompromised flavor.
